Patient Guide
Rhinoplasty Care
General care guidance before and after rhinoplasty.

Before the Procedure
- Prepare a printed CT scan and any documents requested by your doctor, and hand them to the clinic.
- Have studio photographs and lab tests ready about a week before surgery.
- Let your doctor know beforehand about any underlying condition, prior hospitalization, drug allergy, or medication you take.
- Inform your doctor if you're pregnant or think you might be.
- Be sure to mention if you've taken medications such as isotretinoin (Accutane).
- Smoking can interfere with nasal healing — discuss this with your doctor and avoid it as directed.
- As advised by your doctor, avoid alcohol, herbal medicines, tea, or herbal infusions in the days close to surgery.
- Let your doctor know about any history of poor wound healing or keloid scarring.
- Aspirin and blood-thinning medication should only be managed under your doctor's guidance.
- Trim the hair inside your nose the night before surgery, as instructed.
- Do not eat or drink for about 8 hours before surgery, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
After the Procedure
- Apply a cold compress to the cheeks for the first two days.
- Skip the compress on day three; from day four, a warm compress may be used if your doctor advises it.
- Avoid smoking and alcohol for a month — smoking can negatively affect healing and the nose's final shape.
- Keep to a soft diet during the first week.
- Don't drive for a week.
- Light exercise is usually possible after about two weeks; strenuous exercise should wait longer and only with your doctor's approval.
- Rinse inside the nose with saline as your doctor instructs.
- Take prescribed medication regularly.
- The splint and stitches are usually removed on your doctor's schedule — if it loosens early, contact the clinic.
- After the splint is removed, only change your nasal tape as your doctor has shown you.
- Avoid pressure on the nose, blowing your nose, swimming, or resting glasses on your nose for about 10 weeks.
- Keep your follow-up visits on the clinic's schedule.
